Mary is an attorney in the firm's Corporate and Employee Benefits practices. Mary counsels clients on business succession planning, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and ESOP transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and a broad range of employee benefits issues, including issues involving qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, executive compensation plans, ERISA fiduciary duties and prohibited transactions, and health and welfare plans.Mary frequently counsels companies, selling shareholders, and ESOP trustees in all aspects of business succession planning, ESOPs, and ESOP transactions, including drafting and negotiation of transaction documents, ERISA and Internal Revenue Code compliance, synthetic equity plans, and fiduciary duties. Mary is also frequently asked to speak regarding ESOPs and is a member of The ESOP Association and the National Center for Employee Ownership.Mary received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law where she was an Editor of the Boston University Law Review and a recipient of a Dean's Award in Employee Benefits. While in law school, Mary interned for the United States Department of Labor was also a teaching assistant at Boston University School of Law in Contract Drafting and Legal Writing.Prior to law school, Mary worked at a large corporation where she specialized in employee benefits matters and assisted the company in the successful remarketing and implementation of a new health and welfare program for over 7,000 employees.
