Practice Leader – Corporate Law and Employee Benefits

Experience

Terry has over 35 years of experience in the above areas of corporate and employee benefits practice.  Prior to co-founding Maselan & Jones, P.C., he was with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta and then returned to Boston to practice with Csaplar & Bok. His experience on both the corporate and benefits sides of the practice gives him a unique insight on the importance of benefits issues in a merger and acquisition transaction, or on the corporate aspects of a succession plan which utilizes an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Terry also counsels clients directly on the development and design of innovative executive compensation and equity-based compensation program and worker cooperatives,  as well as problem resolution and representation in IRS and Department of Labor audits of retirement plans. He is a member of the ESOP Association, the National Center for Employee Ownership, and the Ohio Employee Ownership Center.  Terry also speaks frequently on corporate business succession and employee ownership.

Terry is a former Lieutenant  in the United States Navy, having served on active duty in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean  as an anti-submarine officer on destroyers prior to law school.
